A Bad Place to Premiere at Cinequest

March 3, 2020 in Movie News, News

Horror film darling and Scream Queen Jessica Cameron returns for her third time in the director’s chair with a chilling vision: the story of another place, another time, where three female strangers must evade a shadowy force and their own grim pasts, as they try to find a way beyond a nightmare world that exists in a foggy edge of reality. Florence, Molly, and Collette are trapped in a world they couldn’t possibly have imagined…all running from events that happened in their lives; each forced to confront the unthinkable. Cameron has always believed in producing horror films that empower female characters, and A Bad Place is a perfect addition to her repertoire as an artist. And, just like her previous films, she always provides the audience with stories as wild as they are unpredictable.  A Bad Place stars Ali Ferda (Lilith, The Sleeper), Heather Dorff (Truth or Dare, The Tour), Johanna McGinley (Outsiders, Wildfire), Jim Foreman (Underground, Constraint), Dylan Cinti (Leaf Blower Massacre 2) and introduces Bella Mortensen. The trailer for A Bad Place was just released and can be viewed here:

Three Comedians Launch Horror Movie Tribute Series ‘THE FILMS HAVE EYES’

March 3, 2020 in News, On The Web

Comedians and horror movie addicts Dakota Freeman, Bryan Mathews, and Marty Wurst have launched a new web series calledThe Films Have Eyes, in which these three demented hosts kidnap guests and force them to watch their favorite horror movies. In the series, Dakota, Bryan, and Marty live together in an old haunted mansion where they spend their time watching horror movies with their cat projectionist Church and concocting plans to inflict the next film selection on an unsuspecting guest. Episodes are available on TheFilmsHaveEyes.com.

In the first episode, Bryan and Marty capture Dakota and force him to watch the 1985 cult classic The Stuff directed by Larry Cohen, only to discover that Dakota is perhaps an even more devoted horror fan than they are. They invite Dakota to join their merry band of psychopaths and help spread the gospel of horror movies.

Other residents of the mansion include Ashley the insecure ghost; Kenny, a man being held captive in the basement by two giant spiders named Rick and Charles; and the disgustingly handsome servant Igor. Dakota, Bryan, and Marty also have a pet maggot named Maggot who emerges from his hellmouth to cackle along with the trio’s antics. Webcams showing what these crazed characters are up to at any given time can be viewed on TheFilmsHaveEyes.com, where you can also read bios of the hosts, see a gallery of Church’s photos with celebrities, read in-depth blog posts, and even send in a question to Vigo the Carpathian.

Follow the whole gang and get notified when new episodes are released on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, where the hosts have also posted animated shorts by Dakota Freeman, movie reviews, and behind-the-scenes clips from the show.

New Exclusive Clip for Realm of Shadows starring Tony Todd

March 3, 2020 in Movie News, News

There is a new clip for the much anticipated Realm of Shadows starring horror legend Tony Todd (Candyman and Final Destination franchises), Jimmy Drain (Fate Upside Down, The Initiation opposite Emmy nominee Naomi Grossman) and Vida Ghaffari (The Mindy Project, Eternal Code opposite Scout Taylor-Compton). This much anticipated film is a world of mystery, possession and shadows in an anthology of short horror themed tales woven into a full length feature presentation. Even the most shocking stories are based on true events.

Todd plays Fr. Dudley, a long time Catholic priest, dedicated to his profession. Fr. Dudley must watch out for his close friend Robby Duray, played by Drain, during a testing time in Robby’s life. He also takes on the volatile task of taming Robby’s diabolic alter ego, and steer him away from the snares of Satan. Cassandra, played by Ghaffari is the alluring and mysterious muse of Master Makin…the mysterious owner of the haunted vault near Strain City’s infamous cemetery and narrator of the shadows for our feature presentation. There is tension between her and her acolyte Corey, played by Denise Gurule (Investigation Discovery’s House of Horrors: Kidnapped).

Also starring Lauren C. Mayhew, Jodi Lynn Thomas, Gregg Stone, Caustic Scifidelic, Mark Fowler and Noah Anderson.

Production is underway by ThunderKnight Entertainment LTD in Denver, Colorado.

Drain and Robert Beiber wrote the screenplay. Drain and Brian McCulley is the film’s director.

“We are excited for the debut of horror film series Realm of Shadows,  and for the audience to experience Tony Todd’s tour de force performance as Catholic priest Fr. Dudley.  A character that continues on in the upcoming controversial Dead Rose film trilogy!,” said Drain.

U.S. Theatrical Release of Nightmarish Stop Motion ‘THE WOLF HOUSE’

February 28, 2020 in Movie News, News

KimStim Announces the U.S. Theatrical Release
of the Chilean Film THE WOLF HOUSE
by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña

Winner of the Cinema Tropical Award for Best First Film,
the Stop-Motion Animated Feat Opens Friday, March 20
at Anthology Film Archives in New York, and on Friday,
March 27 at the Laemmle Glendale in Los Angeles,
Followed by Other U.S. Cities

KimStim is proud to announce the U.S. theatrical release of the The Wolf House (La casa lobo) by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña. Winner of the Jury Prize at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and the Cinema Tropical Award for Best First Film, the Chilean film opens on Friday, March 20at Anthology Film Archives in New York City and on Friday, March 27 at theLaemmle Glendale in Los Angeles.

Based loosely on the grim case of Colonia Dignidad, a German émigré-run colony in post-WWII Chile that was revealed to have been used to imprison, torture, and murder dissidents during the Pinochet regime, The Wolf House is an animated feature film with a much darker foundation than most. As deeply disturbing as its inspiration would suggest, it is also a truly inspired feat of animation, its extraordinary craft and artistic vision fusing with its profoundly sinister themes to create an experience of exceptional power.

Using stop-motion animation to unfurl a never-ending series of transformations that play out as a single sequence shot, León and Cociña—making their first feature after a series of shorts—tell the grim fairy tale of Maria, a young woman who finds refuge in a house in the south of Chile after escaping from a sect of German religious fanatics. She is welcomed into the home by two pigs, the only inhabitants of the place. As in a dream, the universe of the house reacts to Maria’s feelings. The animals transform slowly into humans and the house becomes a nightmarish world.

Produced painstakingly over the course of several years, and filmed piecemeal within art galleries across several countries, in full view of the gallery-going public, The Wolf House masquerades as an animated fairy tale produced by the leader of the sect in order to indoctrinate its followers. It’s easily one of the most accomplished, transporting, and conceptually rich animated features to appear in recent memory.

 “A visually engrossing, reference-rich and disturbing tale…
A creative tour de force whose endlessly fascinating visuals
are deliberately seductive and repellent in equal measure.”
